A kit of the British Blackburn Buccaneer carrier-borne strike aircraft in the S.2C/D version in 1:48. The model is meant to be assembled and painted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Blackburn Buccaneer was created as a carrier-borne strike aircraft for a run in to the target at low level over the water, where it was hard to pick up in time. The stocky area-ruled fuselage, the exceptionally strong structure and the folding wingtips went with service aboard aircraft carriers. In place of the usual bomb bay doors it had a rotating bomb bay floor, which swung out with the load only over the target and did not disturb the airflow around the fuselage. The S.2 version received a pair of Rolls-Royce Spey engines, which gave the machine more thrust and more range. The designations S.2C and S.2D belonged to naval aircraft and told apart the fit for carrying guided weapons.
This is a kit to be glued and painted. In 1:48 the finished model comes out about forty centimeters long with a span of about twenty-eight centimeters. The range of parts and the choice of marking options are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Clean the excess material and the traces of production off the parts, sand the mating surfaces and try the whole thing dry before you apply any glue. Use cement made for plastic models and apply it sparingly. Finish and paint the cockpit and the landing gear bays before you close the fuselage. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. Put masking tape on before you spray and take it off as soon as the paint has set.
The set will please modelers who already have a few aircraft kits behind them, as well as collectors of British carrier equipment. Paints, thinner, glue and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
