Photo-etched metal parts for models of the F/A-18E Super Hornet carrier aircraft in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F/A-18E Super Hornet is an American carrier-borne multirole aircraft in single-seat form. Compared with the older Hornet it has a larger airframe, angular air intakes and more pylons, so it carries a heavier load and flies farther. Its carrier operation is obvious at first glance from the folding wings, the heavy landing gear and the arrestor hook.
Photo-etched parts from thin metal sheet for F/A-18E models in 1:48 scale. Etching makes it possible to produce features that an injection mold cannot render in the correct thickness: grilles, thin edges, straps, placards and small controls. The list of parts and their position on the model is described in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the parts from the photo-etched fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface; breaking them out bends the surrounding area and leaves a burr. Sand the remains of the tab away. Make the bends over the edge of a metal ruler or in a bender so that the line is crisp and the part does not spring. Metal is glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a small amount, for example with a pin. Degrease the area before painting and apply a primer intended for metal, otherwise the shade will not hold on the smooth surface.
The set belongs in the hands of a modeler who has already worked with small parts and wants to get more out of the model than the standard plastic offers. Tweezers with fine points, a hard surface and good light make the work easier. The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
