Omask 1:48 Brewster Buffalo, wheel bay plugs. Shaped plugs that close the landing gear bays of a model during spraying. The set is cut for the Tamiya kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Wheel bay plugs from Omask for a model of the Brewster Buffalo fighter in 1:48 scale. These are neither a glazing mask nor extra parts for the model: they are shaped plugs that go into the open landing gear bays and close them off for as long as the model is being sprayed. Without them paint runs into the bay, where it is then either visible or has to be laboriously painted over. The set is cut for the Tamiya kit, because the shape of the bays differs from kit to kit and a plug from another kit will not seat.
The Brewster Buffalo was an American single-engined carrier fighter of the late 1930s, one of the first all-metal monoplanes with retractable landing gear in US Navy service. In the fighting in the Pacific it did not make its mark against more modern opponents, yet in Finnish service it earned a reputation that nobody would have credited it with on its results elsewhere. That very contradiction is what gives the type its lasting place among modelers.
For modelers building the Brewster Buffalo in 1:48 scale on the kit named, who want clean landing gear bays and do not want to deal with them by stuffing in paper tissues and masking tape. It is a small thing that nobody praises on a finished model, but its absence shows at once.
