This accessory set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard contains replacement main landing gear wheels for a model of the Bristol Beaufort Mk.I aircraft in 1:48 scale. Wheels belong among the parts that are constantly in view on a finished model and are at the same time difficult to produce in injected plastic: the parting line of the mold runs across the tread of the tire and cleaning it up tends to be a nuisance. Replacement wheels remove this problem and bring a sharper pattern of the tread and of the hub.
The Bristol Beaufort was a British twin-engine torpedo bomber which served with RAF Coastal Command for attacks on shipping targets and for reconnaissance over the sea. The Mk.I version used Bristol Taurus radial engines and differed from the later versions precisely in its powerplant. The machine grew out of the earlier Blenheim type, but it was more robust and had a greater load capacity. On a model the landing gear is visible both on a standing model and, when it is displayed in a case, from a side view.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with a detergent and rid them of residues from manufacture, otherwise the paint will adhere badly. Cut the casting residues off and level the surface by sanding; with resin parts sand wet and protect your breathing. Paint the tire and the hub separately: the hub best before fitting, and the tire in a matte dark gray rather than a pure black, so that it does not come across as rubber from a toy. Finally dust the landing gear lightly with a pigment according to the environment in which the machine is meant to operate.
This is an accessory to a model, not a kit of the aircraft. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
