A photo-etched set for the British Austin K2 ambulance in 1:48 scale from Hauler will add thin sheet-metal elements that cannot be cast in a mold. The photo-etching is designed for the Tamiya kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set widens the possibilities of building the British two-ton ambulance in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of the vehicle but a group of thin metal parts with which elements cast in plastic too robustly are replaced. The individual parts replace the plastic elements of the Tamiya kit.
The Austin K2 was a two-ton truck driven on one axle, on whose chassis ambulance bodies were built. Vehicles with a red cross accompanied British units from the North African desert to Northwest Europe, and among the crews the nickname Katie took hold for them. Characteristic is the tall angular box with large windows and a simple cab with a separate fender.
First think the order of the work through: most of the metal parts are fitted before the halves of the body are joined. Clean the metal with alcohol before gluing, seat it with drops of cyanoacrylate glue and wipe the excess off at once. The thin window surrounds will take careful shaping with tweezers, but only once; repeated bending tires them and they crack. Apply the paint in thin coats, so that the engraving is not lost.
The package contains only accessory parts; the kit, glue and paints have to be obtained separately.
