A small resin accessory from the Czech maker Hauler. It is not a model nor a kit but one specific piece of vehicle equipment: a fire extinguisher in the form that on British vehicles was mounted on the outside of the hull or on a fender, that is so that the crew could reach it without climbing inside.
A fire extinguisher is a trifle on a model, but it is a trifle placed in an exposed spot that everyone looks at. A plastic part from a mold has soft edges, often a parting line across the whole body, and it lacks the fineness of the bracket and the straps. A resin casting is poured into a mold with far finer detail, so it holds sharp edges and a legible shape of the holder even where the whole part is a few millimeters long. On a vehicle built for a cabinet it is a difference that is noticed at once.
First wash the resin parts in warm soapy water and let them dry, as there tends to be residue of mold release agent on the surface and neither glue nor paint holds on it. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a cutting disc and never snap it off; level the remainder with a file. When sanding resin, work wet and protect your breathing, as the dust is fine and unpleasant. It is glued exclusively with cyanoacrylate, as ordinary cement for plastic does not work on resin. Apply a primer before painting. Choose the shade according to a photograph of the particular vehicle you are building, as the forms differed and it therefore pays not to guess the color from the desk.
