A polystyrene rod of square section, 1.5 x 1.5 mm, 35 cm long. The unit of sale is one piece.
Responsibility details are not available.
The rod is made of white polystyrene, measures 35 cm and has the same height as width, so it can be turned ninety degrees without the look of the edge changing. That is where a square section helps most: girders, frames, bench braces, railing posts and corner trim can be built up into structures without your having to watch the orientation of the part.
A side of one and a half millimeters is roughly a 52 mm beam in 1:35 scale, and around eleven centimeters in 1:72. That tells you where the rod serves best: formwork, pallets, shelter supports, the frames of wooden buildings and scaffolding on construction dioramas, but also internal bracing where a glued shell needs stiffening from the inside.
The material is cut with a sharp knife or with nippers, and the cut only needs truing up with a file. It is glued with a cement for polystyrene, which softens the parts and joins them with no visible gap. For a wooden look, try scratching the surface lightly along its length with a wire brush before painting; the texture will then bring itself out under a wash.
A length of 35 cm is enough even for longer continuous elements with no need for splicing. The goods are sold as individual pieces.
It is cut with a sharp knife after scoring a groove; a saw needlessly tears the edges on so small a section. It is glued with an ordinary cement for polystyrene, which softens the material and thereby closes the joint firmly.
