1:48 British WW II reflector gunsight

British reflector gunsight of the Second World War 1:48 (Quickboost)

A resin detail part, not an airplane kit. A finely cast resin reflector gunsight for the cockpit of British combat aircraft of the Second World War in 1:48 scale. It replaces the simplified plastic part and completes a cockpit with a faithful gunsight; it is a universal accessory, not a part for one particular type of aircraft.

The real subject and what the part is for

A reflector gunsight projected a light mark (an aiming ring) onto a glass plate in front of the pilot, so he could aim and still watch his surroundings. Gunsights of this type were used in British fighters and bombers for most of the Second World War. In an open cockpit the gunsight is a conspicuous element; a crisp resin casting with a fine glass plate looks more convincing than plastic and suits a range of British machines in that scale.

Usage tips

• Wash the parts free of mold release residue in lukewarm soapy water
• Cut off the casting blocks and clean up the surfaces with respiratory protection
• Glue with cyanoacrylate glue; cement for plastic will not hold on resin
• The reflector glass can be suggested with a drop of clear coat or with clear foil

Who the part is for

• For builders of British aircraft of the Second World War in 1:48 scale
• For modelers who detail an open cockpit
• For more advanced modelers with resin experience

This is a resin detail part, not a model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
