1:48 CATM-114 Captive Training missile (4 pieces) is a resin set of four training missiles from Reskit. It is not a kit of a helicopter but an accessory with which you replace the coarse munitions from the box.

The set holds four CATM-114 training missiles in 1:48 scale. It is an accessory for building a model of a helicopter, not the model itself. With it a modeler replaces the missiles molded in the kit, which tend to have a distinct parting line along their whole length, softened edges on the fins and only suggested surface details. A resin casting holds the sharp edges of the stabilizers and the fine texture of the body, which an injection mold cannot hold in this scale. The second typical situation in which the set pays off is a model whose kit offers no training munitions at all.
The CATM-114 is the training form of the guided missile of the AGM-114 series. It stays permanently hung on the launch rail and is not fired. It serves to train crews, to practice handling and to check the mounting and the onboard electronics. In shape it corresponds to a live missile, and in service it is told apart from one mainly by the markings. Missiles of this series are carried by attack helicopters equipped with rail launchers, so the set will come into its own on a whole range of models in 1:48 scale.
Start by washing the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent. There tends to be a remainder of release agent from the mold on the surface, and under it neither primer nor paint will hold, even though it cannot be told at first glance. Let the parts dry perfectly, and only then separate the remainder of the casting block or the printing supports. Sand the mark left by them wet with fine abrasive paper, as wet sanding raises no dust and at the same time does not heat the material. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, as ordinary cement for plastic does not dissolve resin and the joint would not hold. Apply the primer in a thin layer, so that the fine engraving is not lost.
The set is an accessory, not a kit. It is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the basic model are not included in the package.
