A set of colored interior elements for a model of the CH-47A helicopter in 1:48 scale. The elements are printed, with raised relief and color printing, so the small details of the cabin look intricate even without hand painting. The rendition is prepared for the kit from Italeri, so the shapes and dimensions are based on that model. The extent of the set and the position of the individual elements are given in the enclosed instructions.
The elements are applied like a decal. Cut the part out of the sheet, dip it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the carrier paper into place. It has no adhesive layer of its own: it holds most reliably on gloss varnish, that is on a coat of Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22, and on uneven surfaces a drop of cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) helps. Do not use decal softener or setting solution, as their chemistry will damage the printed resin. Paint the surface underneath and let it dry completely before you place the element, because there is no painting under it afterwards. Check the position from the side so that the element lies down over its whole area. Finish the interior before you close the fuselage and fit the glazing.
The CH-47 is a heavy transport helicopter with a tandem arrangement of two main rotors above an elongated fuselage that is loaded through a rear ramp. The A version is the oldest production form of the line. The glazed nose and the large cargo compartment let more of the interior be seen on a model in 1:48 scale than is usual with helicopters.
The set suits modelers who build the CH-47A in 1:48 scale and want the instruments and panels readable without laborious brushwork. It is an accessory for a kit, so the model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
