The Czech Splinter 7701 paint masks for the MiG-21, version V.2 are a reworked edition of the DN Models set for the mottled coloring of one Czech machine in 1:48 scale.

The V.2 designation means the second generation of this set from the DN Models brand. Against the first edition it has greater accuracy of the shapes and further patches have been added to it, including fields for the drop tanks. The masks come on two sheets and national insignia complete them.
The pattern comes from one single MiG-21MF machine, which the Czech Air Force gave a demonstration coloring made up of a multitude of small, similarly shaped fields. The aircraft appeared in it before the public and became a literal icon of home air days. In a larger scale it comes out how irregularly the patches are scattered and how they overlap across the panel lines.
Work area by area, not on the whole aircraft at once, otherwise you will lose track of the order. It works well to lay all the masks on one half first, spray, take them off and only then move to the other side. The exact shades are not recorded anywhere, so it pays to compare several period pictures. The layout fits the ordinary MiG-21 M, MF and bis versions in 1:48, ideally the MF.
A kit and paints are not supplied with the masks.
