The 1:48 de Havilland Vampire F.3 In and Out masking set from the Dead Design brand is, according to the name, meant for masking from outside and inside.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set from the Dead Design brand in 1:48 scale for the Vampire F.3. The epithet in the name says that the masking is done from both faces of the glazing - that is, including the inside, where the frames carry the interior shade. It is a more extensive version than the basic set in the same range, and the procedure matches that, calling for more steps.
The Vampire F.3 has a short fuselage nacelle with the cockpit set high and with a good view out. On a model where the cockpit is open or well seen through, the inner face of the frames is in plain view, so painting only from outside looks unfinished.
Double masking has one extra trap - overspray into the interior. Before you start spraying, fill the cavity of the cockpit with a piece of foam or damp cotton wool; otherwise the mist of paint gets around the edge of the mask and settles on the already painted interior. The order that has proved itself is this: inner masks, interior shade, full drying, and only then the outer masks and the camouflage. Glue the glazing into the fuselage only after painting, and with a clear glue or spot by spot with a low-outgassing cyanoacrylate - ordinary solvent cement will get under the mask and fog the transparent part for good. Take the masks off with the blunt point of a toothpick rather than with metal tweezers, so as not to scratch the glazing.
The set holds masks only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
