A resin set of exhaust stubs for the British Boulton Paul Defiant Mk.I turret fighter in 1:48 scale from the Quickboost brand (the range of simple resin parts from Aires). The faithfully cast exhausts with open mouths replace the simplified plastic parts of the kit. It is not an airplane model but a detail replacement that lifts the impression of the finished build.
The Boulton Paul Defiant was a British fighter of the Second World War with an unusual armament layout: all the machine guns were carried in a powered turret behind the pilot, and the aircraft had no fixed forward armament at all. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. The concept did not prove itself in the day fighter role, and the aircraft later served well as a night fighter. The exhaust stubs along the sides of the engine are a conspicuous detail.
These are resin castings. Wash them in lukewarm soapy water and clear them of mold release residue, otherwise neither paint nor glue will hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw away from the part and sand the surfaces. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate), not with plastic cement. Protect your airways while sanding. The open exhaust mouths come into their own in a dark sooty shade - finish the metal with a light touch of rust and soot.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin set for more experienced modelers. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
