A generic 1:48 sheet with Danish national insignia, numbers and an extensive set of technical lettering for the F-35A Lightning II.
Responsibility details are not available.
Denmark ordered twenty-seven F-35A machines and is taking them over gradually; the first examples touched down at the Skrydstrup base in southern Jutland in the autumn of 2023. There they are replacing the F-16 fleet that the local wing had operated since the beginning of the 1980s. Skrydstrup lies not far from the German border and remains the only fighter base in the country, so the whole transition to a new generation of equipment, together with the rebuilding of facilities and workshops that goes with it, is concentrated there.
The sheet does not follow one special scheme but is made up of markings usable on any machine of the fleet: national roundels, tail and fuselage numbers and a rich set of technical lettering. This approach makes sense with modern fighters, because their everyday finish is uniform and the only thing that distinguishes individual examples tends to be precisely the markings.
The surface treatment of these aircraft is deliberately matte and uneven. Apply the print, therefore, onto a temporarily varnished glossy island and flatten the whole area once it has dried, so that none of the decals gives its outline away by its sheen.
The sheet assumes a finished plastic F-35A model in 1:48 scale. On its own it contains no airframe parts, castings or photo-etched sheets. Think out in advance which example of the fleet you want to build, because with this type the differences between individual aircraft have shrunk almost entirely to the numbers and the small lettering.
