Armory 1:48 D.IIIa engine with the exhaust collector for the Fokker D.VII is a resin accessory for modelers who want an open engine bay on their kit. It is not an aircraft kit but a replacement powerplant.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin casting of the D.IIIa engine in its late form, with an exhaust collector of the kind the Fokker D.VII carried. The set is intended for models in 1:48 scale and replaces the simplified engine from a plastic kit, or complements it where the kit has no engine at all. It is an accessory for an open cowling or for a diorama with equipment taken apart, not a model of the aircraft.
The Mercedes D.IIIa was a water-cooled inline six-cylinder engine, one of the most widespread German aircraft powerplants of the end of the First World War. With an output of around 170 to 180 horsepower it powered the early batches of the Fokker D.VII and Albatros fighters; later a version with a higher compression ratio replaced it in the D.VII. It was precisely on the Fokker D.VII that the routing of the exhaust into a collector pipe led down the right side of the fuselage was one of the recognition features, so the engine and the collector form a single visual unit.
It is an accessory to a model, not a kit. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
