A figure of a donkey in 1:48 scale. This is not a kit, but a scene accessory that fits everywhere the scene is meant to look rural or southern. The donkey is a classic draft and pack animal that appears in dioramas by field tracks, markets and farms, and also in military scenes from the Mediterranean and mountain regions, where vehicles could not get through and the animal kept the supplies moving.
An animal in a resting pose is rewarding because it does not compete with the main model and yet gives the scene a story. It works well paired with a human figure, by a wall, a pen or a cart. It also helps to fill an empty spot on the base naturally and tells the viewer the scale of the whole scene quickly.
Rinse and degrease the figure before painting, carefully cut off the casting residue and the gates and clean the surface up. Choose the glue to suit the material; on small resin parts cyanoacrylate works well. Apply a thin coat of primer, otherwise the shade holds badly on a smooth surface. The coat is painted from a darker base, with a lighter shade pulled dry across the back, the flanks and the muzzle; the belly and the inner sides of the legs tend to be lighter. Pick out the hooves and the eyes in a dark shade and flatten the whole thing, leaving only the eyes glossy.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and the base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
