This is a resin accessory, not an aircraft kit. The set is intended for exchanging the landing gear wheels of an injection-molded Do 335 model in 1:48 scale for castings with finer tread definition and hub shaping than a split plastic mold allows. The basic kit has to be obtained separately.
The Dornier Do 335 was a German twin-engine aircraft of the end of the Second World War with an unusual tandem engine arrangement. One engine drove a tractor propeller in the nose, the other was housed in the rear of the fuselage and drove a pusher propeller through a long shaft. The arrangement reduced frontal drag compared with the classic twin-engine solution with engines in the wing and allowed a relatively high speed. The aircraft had nosewheel landing gear, which was rather exceptional on German machines of this class at the time. The variants of the B series were derived from the airframe of the A series and prepared as a heavily armed fighter type. Only a small number of machines were built before the end of the war and their combat use was negligible.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water before building; otherwise the mold release residue keeps the paint from adhering. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and level the surface with abrasive paper; sand resin wet and protect your airways. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue; ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on resin. Do not spray the tire pure black; a dark gray shade with a sooty cast looks more faithful at scale. Set the hub apart separately and bring out the transition between hub and tire with a dark wash; a light dusting of pigment can then go on the tread.
This is an accessory for modelers, not a kit in its own right. The basic model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
