This item is an add-on resin set, not a kit of an aircraft. It contains landing gear wheels for the twin-engine Douglas Invader in the standard designated as type 3. Resin castings differ from plastic parts above all in having no mold seam across the tread and in holding finer engraving. The result is a wheel that, once clear coated and lightly dusted, looks credible even seen close up.
The Douglas Invader was an all-metal twin-engine attack and bomber aircraft with a long service career, during which the machines went through modifications to their equipment and to the landing gear. The standard of the wheels and rims therefore differed between individual machines and periods, and the maker of accessories responds to this with several numbered variants. Which standard corresponds to the machine you want to build can be determined reliably only by comparison with period photographs; the type number by itself does not determine the subject.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap, cut the casting block off with a saw and sand the cut surface. Sand resin wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with superglue; ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on resin. Apply a primer before painting, otherwise paint holds worse on smooth resin. Paint the rims and the tires separately and solve the edge with a circular mask. A dark gray shade of tire comes across more naturally than a saturated black.
