The extended set of pre-cut New Ware masking templates for the American twin-engined attack bomber Douglas B-26B-50 Invader in 1:48 scale. Compared with the basic BASIC variant, the EXPERT level masks more areas of the model, so you will hardly have to touch hand masking with tape at all. The templates are plotter-cut from Japanese kabuki paper, a low-tack material that conforms to the shape of the part, will not let paint under the cut and lifts off without a trace.

A big machine, a lot of masking

For 1:48 scale the Invader is a large model: the pilot's canopy, the gun turret and further glazed areas add up to dozens of frames that would turn hand brushwork into hours of labor. Pre-cut masks shorten that step to minutes and, above all, guarantee a uniform line width over the whole machine, which is the detail that decides things on the competition table. Degrease the part before applying, smooth the edges of the templates carefully and spray thin coats.

The real subject

The Douglas Invader served from the end of the Second World War and made its name in Korea with night attacks on supply routes. The B version carries a solid nose fitted with a battery of 12.7 mm machine guns, which made the machine a feared tool against ground targets.
