1:48 E-2 Hawkeye and C-2 Greyhound - resin wheels and masks is an accessory set from the Czech maker Aires for kits of both carrier aircraft. It is not a model of an aircraft.

The set replaces the plastic wheels from a kit with resin castings and adds masks for painting. A casting has no parting seam down the middle of the tire that would have to be sanded away, and it holds a sharper tread and lettering on the sidewall. The masks separate the tire from the rim: one area is masked, the other is sprayed and the boundary stays clean. That the set covers both types is no accident - the E-2 and the C-2 share their basic airframe and landing gear, so their wheels are identical. The number of parts and the extent of the masks are given by the manufacturer on the packaging.
The E-2 Hawkeye is a carrier airborne early warning aircraft, recognizable by the large rotating radome above the fuselage and the four vertical tail surfaces. The C-2 Greyhound is a transport aircraft intended to supply aircraft carriers, which came about on the same design basis but with a bulky cargo fuselage and a rear ramp. Both types are powered by turboprop engines and both have a folding wing for handling on deck, sturdy landing gear and an arrestor hook for landing on a ship.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap, so that no mold release agent is left on them. Cut the casting block off with a saw in the plane where the tire meets the ground and level the surface on sandpaper laid on glass, so that the wheel stands straight and the model does not rock. Sand wet and with respiratory protection. They are attached with cyanoacrylate glue. Spray the tire in a dark gray tone, not in pure black, which looks flat in scale; once it has dried, stick the mask on and spray the rim. Remove the mask soon and at a sharp angle. Add a little dust with pigment on the contact surface; on carrier aircraft a trace of oil and rubber suits as well.
This is an accessory set, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
