Eduard 1:48 F-104A/C seatbelts STEEL are color photo-etched seat harness straps in steel for the seat of a Starfighter model in the A and C versions in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard with seat harness straps rendered in color for a model of the Lockheed F-104 in the A and C versions in 1:48 scale. Steel photo-etch is stiffer than brass, so it keeps its shape after bending and the straps can be run exactly where you need them. It is the quickest targeted intervention in the cockpit; a more comprehensive solution for the cockpit area is offered by the larger photo-etched sets for the same aircraft, which are separate items.
The seat tends to be well in view on a Starfighter model, and the plastic straps on it are either missing or merely suggested as a relief. Photo-etched straps have a realistic thickness, crisply legible buckles and hardware and, above all, can be formed into free curves. The cockpit thereby gains at once the scale depth that painting alone cannot make up for.
The color parts are neither repainted nor sprayed with primer. Cut them out with a scalpel, form them with tweezers gradually and make a bend in one go, as repeated bending tires the metal. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a minimal amount; the gel version suits straps, thanks to the longer time it allows for settling them. Sand off the relief of the webbing molded on the plastic seat first, otherwise the new part will not seat and will stand off.
This is an accessory set, not an airplane model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
