F-105 Thunderchief - a turned Pitot tube in 1:48 scale from the manufacturer MASTER. A metal part with an accurate diameter and a sharp tip.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal Pitot tube for models of the F-105 Thunderchief fighter-bomber in 1:48 scale from the Polish company MASTER. A detail accessory for a model, not a kit. It replaces the plastic part, whose tip tends to be rounded because of the mold and whose diameter is oversized.
The F-105 Thunderchief was a single-engine fighter-bomber with a large internal bomb bay and characteristic swept air intakes in the wing roots. A long pressure probe projected from the nose of the aircraft, and it is one of its easily recognized external features.
The procedure is short, but it pays not to rush it. Cut the plastic probe off as close to the tip of the fuselage as you can, sand the rest down flush and mark the surface with a center punch. Then drill the hole with a micro drill exactly to the diameter of the pin of the metal part - slack is worse than a tight hole, because in slack the probe will point somewhere other than where you want. Glue the metal part in with a drop of thin super glue; wipe any excess away at once, because it sands badly on metal. Once it has dried, degrease the surface, apply a primer for metal and paint in thin coats so that the sharp transition between the body of the probe and the tip is not lost. Anyone who wants to go further can polish and tone the visible part of the probe lightly instead of painting it, so that it keeps its metal character.
This is an accessory for further work on a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
