The resin detail set F-105 Thunderchief wheels and painting masks in 1:48 scale from the Aires company. This is not an airplane model but a set for modelers that replaces the wheels from the base kit with faithful resin wheels with fine detail of the rims and the tires; these tend to be cast with suggested load (flattening) for the impression of a standing aircraft. Pre-cut painting masks are included, which make it easier to paint the rims and the tires cleanly.
The Republic F-105 Thunderchief, nicknamed the Thud, is a single-seat single-engine supersonic fighter-bomber. It was marked by its large dimensions, an internal bomb bay and its use in strike tasks. It was one of the main tactical bombers of its era.
Wash the mold release agent off the wheels, separate them from the casting blocks and fit them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways when sanding resin. Apply a primer before painting. Stick the masks onto the wheels, spray the rims and the tires with an airbrush and, once dry, peel them off carefully: you get a sharp transition without touching up by hand.
