A resin pitot tube for the American Convair F-106A Delta Dart interceptor in 1:48 scale from Quickboost. It is not an airplane model but an exactly cast detail part that will replace the coarser or easily damaged tube from the base kit with a more accurate and sharper rendering.
The F-106 Delta Dart was a single-seat delta-wing interceptor that from the end of the 1950s formed the backbone of the air defense of the United States. It was powered by a Pratt and Whitney J75 engine and the aircraft exceeded Mach 2. The pitot tube senses dynamic pressure and on the slender nose it is a prominent part of the silhouette. The resin replacement has a finer shape and a cleaner casting, so on a model it looks more delicate and more exact.
This is a small and fairly fragile part: wash it to remove mold release residue, separate it from the casting block carefully and bond it with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways while sanding. Paint the tube in a metallic shade and add colored bands to match your subject if it had them; because of its exposed position, fit it at the very end of the build.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
