This resin detail set from the Czech manufacturer Aires refines the landing gear bays of a 1:48 model of the Grumman F-14 Tomcat. It replaces the flat plastic walls with faithfully cast bays complete with runs of piping, ribbing and hydraulic structure. It is an accessory for an existing kit, not an airplane model in its own right.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was an American two-seat carrier fighter with a variable-geometry wing, brought into Navy service in the mid-1970s. It served chiefly as an interceptor protecting the carrier group and later carried reconnaissance equipment as well. On carefully detailed models the open landing gear bays are among the most closely examined areas.
Before gluing, wash the parts to remove any mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off carefully and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Sand resin with your airways protected. The set suits modelers with experience in resin.
This is a resin accessory for experienced modelers, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
