1:48 F-16 armament w/ laser guided bombs is a pack of external stores sets for a model of the F-16 in 1:48 scale. An accessory for the build, not a kit of the aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a pack of accessory sets with external stores from the Czech maker Eduard, intended for building a model of the F-16 aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of the aircraft — the model itself is bought separately. The Big Sin range brings together several separate sets in one package; the exact composition and the number of weapons differ between individual releases, so check them on the packaging.
External stores are among the most conspicuous parts of a model of a modern combat aircraft. The parts from accessory sets tend to be more accurate in shape and finer than the armament included with a base kit, which tells chiefly on the sharp edges of the fins, on the guidance heads and on the pylons. A model thereby gets a credible rendering of a particular configuration.
A laser-guided bomb comes about when a guidance head and a set of aerodynamic surfaces are fitted to a conventional unguided bomb. The bomb then follows the reflected beam of a laser from a designator. That is exactly why these weapons have a conspicuously long nose and sizeable surfaces at the rear, so that they are easily told from ordinary bombs on a model. The F-16 carries them on wing and fuselage pylons along with other equipment, typically with drop tanks.
Stores are usually built and painted separately from the airframe and hung only right at the end, after varnishing and after the decals. The thin surfaces at the ends of the bombs are the most delicate place in the whole build, so leave them off the model until the fuselage has been handled. Fill and sand the seams on the bomb bodies; fine stencils belong on a gloss base so that they do not go matte.
This is not a kit of the aircraft. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
