Six tones for Finnish ground equipment from the end of the fifties to the introduction of the angular pattern of 1981. It holds two generations of the uniform green and the whole quartet of colors of the later camouflage.
Responsibility details are not available.
For long decades the Finnish army held to a simple approach: the whole vehicle got one green. Only at the beginning of the eighties was it replaced by a sharply angular four-color pattern, which holds to this day. Six bottles bridge this boundary and suit armor, wheeled equipment and artillery equally.
The older part is made up of two uniform greens. The first of them matches the shade listed as field green with the number 0211 and was the overall color of all Finnish armor from 1959 to 1976. The second is its successor from the technical standard of 1976, which vehicles received gradually during re-equipping until 1981. The difference between them is inconspicuous, but on a model with an exactly dated period it is decisive.
The remaining quartet belongs to the angular pattern introduced in 1981. A dark moss green (FS14077) and a lighter green tone make up its basis and appear on all the vehicles in service. A brown (FS30051) completes the pattern on selected types, among others on anti-aircraft systems, wheeled carriers and bridging vehicles. The fourth color is black (FS37030), which creates the sharp dividing fields. With all four the source gives the domestic Finnish numerical designation as well.
The fields of the angular camouflage have straight edges and sharp points, so they are easy to mask with tape. A soft transition would look wrong with this pattern, because the real vehicles were repainted by hand to a template with a sharp outline.
