The second standing pose of a female pilot of the F-35 Lightning II in 1:48 scale, the counterpart of the first variant of the same range.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item represents the second of the pair of standing poses the manufacturer offers for the same machine. By placing two different variants side by side, a scene gains a more natural impression than when two entirely identical figures stand by a model. The designation type 2 serves exactly for this distinction.
The equipment of the crews of modern combat aircraft forms a layered whole: a coverall, anti-g trousers, a life vest with a harness, gloves and a helmet with a visor. Each of those layers has a different surface and a different shade, which from a modeling point of view is welcome: even a small figure offers enough surfaces on which craft can be shown. On the F-35 type the gear includes a helmet carrying a display system, so it tends to be bulkier than older helmets.
It proves best to work from the bottom up and from the larger surfaces to the smaller. First the coverall as a whole, then the vest and harness separately, and only at the end the face, hands and helmet. Emphasize the transitions between layers with a thin dark line; the face, by contrast, should be built in two or three light tones, or it will look flat. Once the whole has dried, unify it flat and save the gloss for the helmet visor.
The aircraft has to be bought separately, as the figure is sold on its own.
