Quickboost 1:48 Fairey Gannet AS.1/AS.4 gunsight is a small resin part for the cockpit of a model. It is not a kit but an accessory for the Airfix Gannet kit, so you have to have the model.

This is not an airplane kit but a small resin accessory for a model you already own. It replaces the gunsight in the cockpit of the Fairey Gannet in 1:48 scale and is intended for the kit from Airfix. The aircraft model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
The cockpit is the place everyone looks at on a finished model: it stays visible under the glazing and cannot be hidden. Injection-molded plastic has its limits, though, and the gunsight in a kit is usually only roughly suggested, with a thick frame and soft edges. Resin takes a far finer form, so the replacement part has sharp, thin and accurate shapes. It is a typical piece of work from the Quickboost range by the resin workshop Aires: a few minutes of work and a detail that lifts the cockpit a class higher straight away.
The Fairey Gannet was a British carrier-borne anti-submarine aircraft of the Royal Navy from the 1950s and one of the most remarkable aircraft of its day. It was powered by a pair of turboprop engines driving contra-rotating propellers, and on long patrol flights one half of the powerplant could be shut down to save fuel. The crew was three men seated one behind another under separate canopies. The designations AS.1 and AS.4 belong precisely to the anti-submarine version.
Cut the part from the casting block with a fine saw, sand it down and wash it in warm water with detergent, which removes the mold release agent. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Glue and paint the gunsight before you close the fuselage and fit the glazing, otherwise you will not be able to reach it. The frame is usually matte black; the edges are worth picking out discreetly with a dry brush.
The set is an accessory to a kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
