A resin cockpit set in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Aires. The set matches the two-seat cockpit of the carrier-based F-4B and the upgraded F-4N Phantom II and serves to raise the detail of a plastic kit markedly. It is not an airplane model but a detail accessory that replaces the cockpit tub with more faithfully worked parts, that is, the instrument panels of both cockpits, side consoles, control columns, seats and further features. The package is usually rounded off with fine photo-etched parts.
The F-4 Phantom II was a two-seat multirole fighter of American manufacture, widely flown by both the US Navy and the US Air Force. The carrier-based F-4B version served with the US Navy, and the F-4N version was its later upgrade with improved avionics and structure. The two-seat cockpit is one of the striking features of the type.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, cut off the casting blocks and clean up the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Check the fit of both cockpits with your particular kit before gluing them into the fuselage. Spray the cockpit in a base color and pick out the details with a dark wash and a dry brush.
The resin set is an accessory for a plastic kit, which is not included in the package. Glue, paints and the model itself are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
