F-4E and F-4G Phantom II painting masks, ADVANCED 1:48 (New Ware)

A set of self-adhesive kabuki masks in 1:48 scale for models of the McDonnell Douglas F-4E and F-4G Phantom II fighter. The ADVANCED level of the New Ware range goes beyond the basic version: besides the outer faces of the glazing it also covers the inner faces of the canopy, color masks for the frames and seals, and masks for the wheels. It is not a kit and not a decal sheet, but an aid for precise masking when spraying.

The real subject

The F-4 Phantom II was one of the most important jet fighter and attack aircraft of the second half of the 20th century. The F-4E version introduced an internal gun, while the F-4G Wild Weasel specialized in destroying enemy air defenses.

Use

• Apply the inner masks before the canopy is closed, the outer ones only on finished glazing.
• The color masks for the frames let you spray the interior canopy shade separately from the glass.
• Apply the paint in thin coats so that it does not creep under the edges of the masks.
• Once the paint has dried, peel the masks off carefully; sharp frames and clean windows remain.

Who the set is for

The ADVANCED level will be appreciated by modelers who want to tell the inner and outer canopy colors apart realistically and to have neatly framed glazing. Suitable for a more advanced build of the Phantom in this scale.
