A resin set of engine exhaust nozzles in 1:48 scale from Aires. This is not an aircraft model but a detail replacement for the tail nozzles, which noticeably sharpen the view of an F-4J Phantom II model from behind. The resin parts faithfully capture the nozzle petals and the internal structure that injection-molded plastic parts usually render only in simplified form.
The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II was an American twin-engine multirole fighter and one of the most widely used combat aircraft of its day. The F-4J version served mainly with the US Navy and the US Marine Corps. The distinctive engine nozzles are among the eye-catching details of the Phantom's rear end, and that is where the eye often goes.
Wash the mold release agent off the resin parts, cut off the casting blocks and sand them with respiratory protection. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The nozzles come alive with metallic shades and the temper colors that appear on real nozzles, set off with a fine wash and drybrushing. Check the fit against the end of the fuselage before you glue them in.
