An injection-molded plastic kit of the American fighter McDonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom II in 1:48 scale from Academy. The Fighting Shamrocks boxing offers the markings of a unit with a bold green shamrock on the rudder. The model captures the massive two-seat, twin-engine machine with its characteristic folding wingtips and down-angled tailplanes. Check the particular package contents and the number of decal schemes against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The F-4 Phantom II was an American two-seat, twin-engine fighter used by the US Navy, the US Marine Corps and the US Air Force. The F-4J version was among the late naval modifications with an improved radar and engines. It carried strong missile armament and ranked among the most widespread and most successful jet fighters of its era. The nickname Fighting Shamrocks belongs to a US Marine Corps unit whose machines were decorated with a green shamrock.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and sand the large fuselage and wing joints carefully. Paint the two-seat cockpit and bring it out before closing it; glue the clear canopy with canopy glue. Assemble the external tanks and the missiles separately. Apply a primer before painting and cover with an airbrush. Naval machines carried gray and white camouflage — after a gloss coat and the decals, bring out the panel lines with a wash and add service wear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
