Aires 1:48 F-4S Phantom II cockpit set is a resin detail set of the cockpit for a plastic kit of the Phantom II. It is an accessory to a build, not a model of the aircraft.

The detail set from the Czech manufacturer Aires in 1:48 scale replaces the cockpit of a plastic kit of the two-seat F-4S Phantom II fighter aircraft with more accurate castings in casting resin. It is not a kit of the aircraft but an aftermarket accessory for a model under construction. The base kit has to be had or bought separately.
On a model in 1:48 scale the cockpit is plainly visible under an opened canopy and decides the overall impression. Injection-molded plastic can capture only the coarser shapes of the instrument panels, the side consoles and the ejection seats. A resin casting offers sharper edges, deeper relief on the controls and a more faithful shape of the harness of the seats. Accessory sets of this range tend to be complemented by photo-etched parts and backing for the instrument panels, but verify the particular contents of the package in the enclosed instructions.
Wash the parts in warm water with detergent, so that the release agent from the mold disappears. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw, sand wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate super glue or with epoxy; cement for plastic does not work on resin. The cockpit usually has to be tried out dry several times and the inside of the fuselage halves thinned, so that the halves can be closed up without a gap. It pays to paint it before gluing it into the fuselage: the base, the interior shade, a wash into the recesses and a dry brush or a pencil on the edges. Finish the seat harnesses and the small controls off with a brush at the end.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
