This is not an airplane model, but a detail set for experienced modelers. The package from the Czech maker Aires holds precisely cast resin parts for the landing gear bays of the F-8 Crusader fighter. Bays with a rich texture of pipes, wiring and bracing replace the simplified spaces of the base kit and raise the realism of a model in 1:48 scale considerably.
The Vought F-8 Crusader was an American carrier-borne fighter of the US Navy and the Marine Corps. It became famous as the last fighter designed with the emphasis on gun armament and for its excellent performance in maneuvering combat over Vietnam.
Wash the resin parts free of mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and clean up the surfaces with respiratory protection. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Paint the bays and bring them out with a wash before closing up the wings and fuselage.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
