An Eduard photo-etched set for the F4F-3 in 1:48 scale in the Zoom version, a smaller, pre-painted subset of the full photo-etched set, cut for the simplified edition of the kit from the same manufacturer.
Responsibility details are not available.
It is not an aircraft kit but a photo-etched accessory set for a model you obtain separately. The item belongs to the Zoom line: against the full photo-etched set it is a smaller, pre-painted subset focused on the most visible parts of the model. Zoom is therefore quicker to fit, and it suits you when you do not want to take a whole model apart for parts that will not be seen anyway. The word Weekend in the name refers to the simplified edition of the kit from the same manufacturer the set is cut for.
The Grumman F4F-3 Wildcat is a single-seat carrier fighter with a cantilever mid-mounted wing and an unmistakable stocky fuselage. It was powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp series radial engine. Characteristic of it too is the hand-cranked landing gear that retracted into the fuselage. The F4F-3 version is the early variant with a fixed, non-folding wing and four large-caliber machine guns. The Wildcat was the main carrier fighter type of the US Navy in the first years of the war in the Pacific.
Do not overspray the pre-painted photo-etched parts; they would lose their printed detail. Soften the photo-etched belts by bending them over a round object so that they look natural, and glue them with super glue applied on the tip of a wire. Fit the instrument panel and the parts of the cockpit before the fuselage halves are glued together. Carefully cut off the remaining plastic parts the photo-etch replaces and sand the surface flat.
