1:48 F4F-3 Wildcat In and Out is a double-sided masking set for the glazing of the cabin from Dead Design. With it the inner side of the frame can be sprayed in the interior shade, which on carrier-borne aircraft is different from the color of the airframe.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set from the manufacturer Dead Design contains templates for the inner and the outer side of the glazing. Against the basic one-sided version it therefore makes it possible to spray the frame from the inside too. It is not a kit but an accessory to a model of the Grumman F4F-3 Wildcat.
This is the core of the matter and the main reason why double-sided sets exist at all. The outer side of the frame is a part of the camouflage and carries the shade of the upper surface of the airframe. The inner side, however, belongs to the cockpit and tends to be sprayed in the interior shade, that is, as a rule in an entirely different color. Models where the frame was sprayed only from the outside have a conspicuously light view in the cabin and lack precisely that break of color which gives a cockpit depth.
Proceed in this order: stick the inner templates on, spray the base and the interior shade, let the coat harden overnight. Then turn the part over, check against the light whether the inner masks do not overhang the frame onto the glass anywhere, and only then stick the outer templates on. If the two sides diverge a little, go by the outside, because that is seen more on a finished model. Leave the inner masks in place until the outside is finished as well. Taking them off one side at a time makes no sense and only gets the glass covered in fingerprints.
