A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale from the British manufacturer Xtradecal, devoted to the Jet Provost basic jet trainer in the T.5 version. The first part of the series covers one set of machines; the second part follows on from it. The product is an accessory for a finished model, and a kit is not included in the package.
The Jet Provost was a British two-seat jet with side-by-side seats, used for basic pilot training. The T.5 version is a later, pressurized form with a reshaped forward fuselage and cockpit, which allowed training at greater altitudes as well. The type was among the long-serving British trainers and, thanks to the simple shape of the airframe, its appearance is fairly rewarding for modelers, which makes the bold training schemes stand out all the more.
The airframe of this type has large flat surfaces on the wing and on the sides of the fuselage, and it is exactly there that imperfect work shows up. Once the decal is settled, press it gently down through a soft cloth or a paper tissue and squeeze the excess water from under the film out toward the edges. Apply the pressure with a flat palm through the cloth and not with a finger, so that the film does not shift. Blot the residual moisture away and let the model rest for several hours before you start varnishing, because moisture trapped under the varnish creates a milky stain that can no longer be removed.
