An injection-molded plastic kit of the McDonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom II carrier-based fighter in 1:48 scale from the Japanese maker Zoukei-Mura, from the premium SWS (Super Wing Series) line. The kit is highly detailed — it offers a well-worked cockpit, a faithfully shaped nose and an extensive breakdown of parts; the boxing carries US Navy markings. It is a large set with a high number of parts.
The F-4 Phantom II was a two-seat twin-engine supersonic multirole fighter, one of the most iconic aircraft of the Cold War. The carrier-based F-4J version served with the US Navy as an air-superiority and escort fighter armed with guided air-to-air missiles. Phantoms were flown by a number of naval squadrons from the decks of aircraft carriers.
The high number of parts rewards careful dry-fitting and gradual gluing with thin cement. Finish and paint the richly equipped cockpit and the landing gear bays before you close the fuselage. Protect the glazing with a mask. Apply a primer before painting; spray the typical gray and white naval scheme with an airbrush and shade the panels gently.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
