Rob Taurus 1:48 F4U-1A - vacuum-formed canopy

This is a clear vacuum-formed (vacuform) accessory, not an aircraft kit. It replaces the canopy from the plastic kit with a thinner and cleaner copy that removes the typical bottle-glass cast of thick injection-molded parts and greatly improves the view into the cockpit.

Contents and use

  • A vacuum-formed clear canopy; it is usually supplied in several pieces, including a variant for an open and for a closed cockpit.
  • The part is cut out along the outline with sharp scissors, or scored, broken off and sanded to shape.
  • It is bonded with canopy glue (or with thin super glue); the framing is masked and sprayed.
