This is a resin detail set from the Eduard Brassin range in 1:48 scale. It contains the main landing gear wheels for models of the American carrier-based Grumman F6F Hellcat fighter. It is not a standalone aircraft kit but an accessory with which you replace the plastic wheels from the box with more faithful castings with a realistic tire tread pattern and a fine rim. The tires are usually cast with weighted flattening under the weight of the machine.
Wheels are one of the most closely watched details on a model. Resin castings offer a sharper tread profile and a cleaner rim shape than injection-molded plastic allows. The set is intended for Grumman F6F Hellcat models in 1:48 scale.
First wash the resin parts in warm water with dish soap to remove the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the faces with respiratory protection. Glue the wheels with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Masking is useful for a clean division between the tire and the rim.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
