Landing gear bay doors for the Grumman F7F Tigercat in 1:48 scale refine the view of the underside on a model of the American twin-engine fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
Replacement landing gear bay doors for a model of the American twin-engine Grumman F7F Tigercat in mid scale. They complete a kit that has to be bought separately and carry the Quickboost brand.
On the real aircraft the gear doors are thin sheet metal, whereas in plastic their thickness is set by what the mold allows. Yet with the model standing on its gear the viewer looks at the landing gear from close up and from below, so a thick door edge is the first thing that catches the eye. A finer replacement gives the bays their depth back and the whole landing gear starts to look lighter.
The Grumman F7F Tigercat was a heavy twin-engine fighter originally intended for the large carriers of the US Navy. It was powered by a pair of Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial engines and was the first combat Grumman with a nosewheel landing gear. It did not make it into the fighting of the Second World War, but it proved itself with the Marine Corps in Korea, where the two-seat night versions hunted supply columns after dark. The combination of high power and a rugged airframe made it the last piston fighter of its brand.
The parts come unpainted and glue is bought separately.
