Pre-cut New Ware kabuki masks for the model of the two-seat Su-30MK combat aircraft in 1:48 scale, supplied in the top standard of the range. It is not a kit and not parts of a model — the package holds self-adhesive masks only, which replace the slow cutting of tape and the measuring of glazing frames. Kabuki tape is thin, paper-based and pliable: it adapts to rounded surfaces, holds on an edge and leaves no adhesive behind. The EXPERT designation means the widest extent of covered areas within the maker's three-step range (BASIC, ADVANCED, EXPERT). The exact list of parts is given in the instructions in the package; the masks are cut to the specific shape of the parts and match one particular tooling of the model.
Su-30MK is the designation of the export multirole branch of the Su-30 family, derived from the Su-27 design. It is a twin-engine aircraft with a tandem cockpit for two crew; the glazing is long and divided into several parts with prominent frames. The standards of this branch differ from one another according to the customer, including in the details of the canopy — which is why it always pays to compare the shape of the parts with your own model when buying masks.
Wash the glazing in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap before you start and let it dry freely. Seat the masks dry with tweezers and press the edges down with a blunt tool so that paint cannot creep under them. Spray several light coats instead of one heavy one; a thin coat leaves no step at the edge of the mask. The order that pays off is the interior shade, then the primer and the top camouflage last. With wider sets work group by group through the instructions and do not take all the masks off at once — leave the areas that come later covered.
The package contains masks only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
