Aires 1:48 F8F-1 Bearcat landing gear bays is a resin detail set that replaces the simplified gear bays of the model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin detail set from Aires in 1:48 scale adds faithfully rendered gear bays to a Grumman F8F-1 Bearcat model. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory that replaces the simplified plastic bays from the box with castings full of structural ribs, piping and rivets. The set is meant for more experienced modelers who want to take the detail of the underside of the airframe to a higher level.
The Grumman F8F Bearcat was a carrier fighter of the US Navy from the end of the Second World War. The airframe was built to be as light and compact as possible around the powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine, which gave the aircraft outstanding rate of climb and agility. It never saw full combat, but it remained an icon of postwar carrier aviation.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent to remove the mold release agent. Separate them from the casting blocks by cutting rather than snapping, and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Sand resin with airway protection or wet. Prime the gear bays and bring them out with a wash and a dry brush.
It is supplied as an unassembled and unpainted resin set. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
