Responsibility details are not available.
The abbreviation FAB designates a Soviet high-explosive fragmentation aerial bomb and the number after it the weight class, that is, roughly five hundred kilograms. The set by AMMO of Mig Jimenez contains, according to its name, four such bombs in the M62 version and serves to arm a finished model.
The M62 model came into being at the beginning of the nineteen-sixties as a response to the arrival of supersonic carriers. Older examples had a rounded shape that in fast flight on an external station created drag and set the airframe shaking. The new generation received an elongated aerodynamic body with a conical nose and a tail section, thanks to which it could be carried on machines flying at high speed as well. The Soviet Air Force hung it under practically everything that could carry bomb armament, from the Su-17 and the MiG-27 through the Su-25 ground-attack aircraft as far as the Su-24 and the later Su-34. Through extensive export this type of bomb reached the arsenals of dozens of countries and it can be seen to this day.
Russian ordnance tends to come in simple combinations of gray, green and metal, but with marked colored bands and lettering. Keep the undercoat smooth and clean, therefore, so that the contrasting bands stand out. Fit the bombs only once the aircraft is painted; it is a good idea to try them dry in the openings of the pylons first. A dry brush on the tail surfaces will nicely emphasize their edges.
