The Fairchild A-10 C Thunderbolt II – Instrument Panels set from Red Fox Studio is aimed at the pilot's station. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory that replaces the flat instrument panels from the box with thin parts carrying a raised structure and gives the cockpit back its depth and legible dials. According to the name it is shaped for the Academy and Hobby 2000 kits.
The A-10C came about through a deep modernization of the original version for the precise delivery of armament. Beside the classic gauges, large multifunction displays, a new weapons system controller and satellite navigation appeared in the cockpit, so the instrument panel differs conspicuously from the earlier A model. With a ground-attack aircraft the cockpit is also often built open, because the canopy has large clear areas and the interior is clearly visible underneath it.
First sand the kit surfaces under the parts smooth and degrease them, as unevenness always shows through a thin layer. Try the placing dry and only then seat the part. Finish the surroundings of the cockpit in a deep dark shade; dry brushing will bring out the fine edges of the covers, and a drop of gloss varnish on a dial imitates the glass of the gauge.
