The set is an accessory for marking a model you build and paint from a separately obtained kit; it holds no plastic or resin parts itself. The C version is single-seat, which is the first thing to watch when choosing a kit.
The F/A-18C is a twin-engined multirole aircraft with markedly angular transitions and large areas on the fuselage and the fins, which lend themselves directly to decal artwork. For a model that means pleasant work: most of the areas are flat or only gently curved, so large elements lay down more easily than on the slender fuselage of an older fighter, for instance.
Let the paint mature thoroughly and cover it with a gloss varnish - with saturated display schemes a smooth surface matters even more than usual, because the elements tend to be large and every irregularity shows. Lay the decals on one at a time, adjusting the position with a brush and water. Over the edges of the leading-edge extensions and the transitions of the nacelles, a softener in two doses helps; let the model rest between them. Where a decal has to follow a recess, it is sometimes easier to nick the film carefully with a sharp point and let it drop in. Finally even everything out with a matte or satin varnish.
The decals are supplied on their own. The kit, the paints, the gloss varnish and the softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
