Injection-molded plastic kit of the FM-2 Wildcat Wilder Cat in 1:48 scale from Eduard: a limited edition of the American carrier fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the American FM-2 Wildcat carrier fighter in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. The model comes out as a limited edition under the name Wilder Cat and captures the late, lightened and more powerful version of the Wildcat. The box combines injection-molded plastic parts with the extras typical of the higher Eduard editions, photo-etched parts and painting masks; check the exact contents of the box and the number of marking options against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The FM-2 was the last and most powerful production version of the famous Wildcat carrier fighter. Unlike the earlier Grumman machines it was built by the Eastern Aircraft division of General Motors, it was lightened, and it was powered by the more powerful Wright R-1820 Cyclone radial engine. Its characteristic recognition feature was the taller vertical tail, which balanced the greater torque of the engine. The FM-2 saw service above all from the decks of smaller escort carriers in the second half of the Second World War.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue clean joints with liquid modeling cement for plastic. Paint the cockpit interior and pick out its detail before closing up the fuselage; on kits like this the canopy can usually be built either open or closed. Apply gloss varnish before the decals. Bring out the naval schemes, the blue-gray US Navy shades, with a panel line wash and add fine wear in keeping with service at sea.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
