An injection-molded plastic kit of the German fighter Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8/R2 in 1:48 scale, the premium ProfiPACK edition from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. ProfiPACK means a richer package: besides the plastic it usually contains color photo-etched parts, self-adhesive masks for the glazing and decals with several marking variants. The fine surface detail is typical of Eduard. Check the exact contents of the package against the box.
The A-8/R2 version was the heavily armed anti-bomber conversion of the Fw 190 fighter. In the outer wings, instead of 20 mm cannon, it carried powerful 30 mm MK 108 cannon, able to bring down a four-engine bomber with a few hits. These machines, nicknamed Sturmbock, were committed by the assault groups (Sturmgruppen) against close formations of American bombers over the Reich in 1944. The higher firepower was paid for with worse agility, though.
Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement. Bond the color photo-etched parts (the instrument panel, the belts) with super glue. Mask the glazing with the masks supplied and spray over a primer. Take care over the seating of the BMW 801 radial engine and the cowling; fit the stores under the fuselage according to the chosen markings only at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
