Responsibility details are not available.
In this limited edition, part number 25213, the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya has brought together two of its proven kits: the Fw 190 D-9 JV 44 aircraft as number 61081 and the Citroën Traction 11CV staff car as number 32517. The car has been given an expanded decal sheet, and the whole set comes with newly prepared joint painting instructions, so the aircraft and the car can be built as a single scene. The aircraft is supplied with three marking options for machines of JV 44.
The Fw 190 D-9, nicknamed the Dora, was a development of the Focke-Wulf 190 with a V12 Jumo engine, which gave the aircraft a strikingly long nose. Jagdverband 44 was a unit of Me 262 jets led in the final weeks of the war by Adolf Galland; its Doras protected the takeoff and landing area, when the jets were at their most vulnerable. The Citroën Traction Avant 11CV was a French car with front-wheel drive and a unitary body; the occupation administration requisitioned large numbers of them for its own service, so it was a common sight on German airfields.
The set comes into its own when you build both models into one scene. On the aircraft, paint the cockpit before closing the fuselage and mask the glazing; fill the seam under the exhausts of the long engine cowling. The body of the car has a large glossy surface, so lay the finish on with an airbrush over a smoothed base and add the chrome last. The weathering on both models should match.
The models are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
